Berube ’69 receives
Distinguished Alumni Award
Colonel Ronald Berube ’69 has received
the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards are
sponsored by the Thornton Academy
Alumni Association to recognize
outstanding lifetime accomplishments
by one or more Thornton alumni and to
foster aspirations in recent graduates
and current students. Nominations are
welcome year-round.
After high school, Colonel Berube
attended Amphibious Warfare School,
Marine Corp. Command and Staff
College, The Army War College and the
Defense Systems Management College.
He was commissioned a Marine 2nd
Lieutenant in 1973, became a Naval
living in Burlington, VT with partner,
Mark, and attending graduate
school at the University of Vermont
for Communication Sciences and
Disorders. She plans to eventually
return to Maine to practice as a
Speech and Language Pathologist.
Lisa Roth Tripp and Mike Tripp
celebrated their daughter Olivia’s first
birthday in August.
Kyle Hoseit will be graduating
Aviator in 1974 and was designated a
CH-53D Helicopter Pilot in 1975. During his
decorated 27 years in the Marines, Colonel
Berube served in many different roles,
culminating in his promotion to Commander
of the Presidential Helicopter Squadron
MXX-1 where his assignments included
Operational Test and Evaluation Leader,
Executive Flight Detachment Assistance
Aircraft Maintenance Officer and Executive
Flight Detachment Coordinator for the VH-3
Helicopter. While Commanding Officer of
HMH-466 and HMX-1, he was responsible
for flying Presidents Ronald Reagan,
George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.
degree from the University of Maine
at Fort Kent, a Bachelor’s degree in
Professional Aeronautics from EmbryRiddle University, and a Master’s degree
in Management from Salve Regina
University.
In his retirement Colonel Berube serves
as the Lockheed Senior Manager for
the Marine Corps Programs. He lives in
Fredericksburg, VA with his wife, Sally. They
have two children and three grandchildren.
Colonel Berube received a Bachelor’s
from St. Michaels College with a
Bachelor’s in Political Science/Minor
History. Kyle is currently enlisted
with the Air National Guard/Green
Boys n Burlington, Vermont as an E4
Intelligent Analysts. Upon graduation,
he will be working full time as an
Intelligent Analyst for the Air National
Guard.
2007
Chantelle Rose Boucher writes,
“Since graduating from TA, I went
to college at UMaine Orono and
completed my degree in KinesiologyExercise Science. I have pursued a
career as a collegiate Strength and
Conditioning Coach. After a lot of
hard work, I’m proud to say that I am
now coaching at Harvard University
in Cambridge, MA. I am responsible
for the creation and implementation
of workout programs for a handful of
varsity sports teams. I am completely
in love with my job and could hardly
be happier. I feel like I am proof
that hard work pays off alongside of
following your heart and chasing your

Kayla Greaton married Jefferson
Coniaris ‘04 on September 15, 2012.
2008
Crystal L. Cassette graduated
Magna Cum Laude from Johnson and
Wales University in Providence, RI
this past May. She earned a Bachelor
of Science degree in Culinary Arts
and Food Service Management with
a minor in Sociology. She is the
daughter of Robert Cassette ‘76 and
Debbie Paquette Cassette ‘81.
Brittany Michele Ruth Sawyer
graduated Cum Laude from Sacred
Heart University in May 2012 with a
B.A. in Political Science. She now
attends the University of Maine School
of Law.
Jason Arthur Scott accepted a full
time position with Liberty Mutual in
the Boston office after interning with
them this summer.
