Another Great Senior Alumni Reunion
by Melody Jordan Laskey ’79
On September 25, the Thornton Academy campus
was an exciting place to be. More than 270 people
attended our Annual Senior Alumni Reunion, including
200 alumni from the class of 1927 through the class of
1959. It was a beautiful fall day with a little summer still
lingering in the air when alumni, spouses and friends
gathered in the Atrium for a social hour. Members of
the Alumni Board, Trustees and student volunteers
welcomed the guests. It was a great time for classmates
to reconnect and share memories of times past.
After the social hour, everyone was invited into
the Helen Mitchell Atkinson Dining Commons by class.
We hope this made seating easier. Thornton Academy
Alumni President David LePauloue ’84 welcomed
the audience and gave a preview of the very exciting
Bicentennial Celebration in 2011. We all hope you come
back to TA to enjoy the activities planned on campus
throughout the year (see details on pages 4-5). Col.
Fred Clark ’46 and James Leary ’47 made an appeal
for donations of TA memorabilia to showcase next
year. Together we enjoyed the Pledge of Allegiance
led by Clark and a moment of silence to remember
all alumni who passed away over the previous year.
Thornton Academy Headmaster Carl Stasio also spoke
to alumni about what’s been happening at Thornton
Academy and the school’s plans for the future. Guests
