THORNHILL LIFE

What to do:
• Check your daily average consumption rate over say, a 5 to 10 day period by taking a meter reading at the start and the end of the period, and dividing the amount consumed by the number of days.
• Multiply this daily average by 30 and you will see which of the above blocks you are in from the above table.
• Never buy any more than that block amount in any particular month.
As an example of this, you check your meter over a typical 7 day period and find you are averaging say 32 kWh per day. Multiplying this by 30 takes you to a monthly figure of 960 kWh. This puts you in Block 2. The maximum you should spend in any month will be for 1 000 kWh which will cost: R715.80 for the first 500 kWh and R847.70 for the next 500 kWh making a total of R1 563.50. For this example, and to err on the safe side, never spend more than R1 560 in any month so you never get to pay block 3 prices – and so on.
