THORNHILL SOCIAL It’s Potjie time! On the 1st of September, the main park was filled with delightful aro- mas wafting from the many pots entered into our potjie competition. It was a day that rejected the old proverb “too many cooks spoil the broth” as 32 teams battled it out for the title of the first Thornhill Potjie Master Chef. Some teams were very eager to get their pots on the go, with set up starting as early as 6am, ready for the big day ahead, and what a day it was! We could not have asked for better weather, the turnout was over whelming and the good spirit by all, who attended marked the day as a huge success! After many hours of perfecting their pots, teams were judged at 4pm by a panel of judges, which included chefs and owners from Bili B, Fahrenheit, Papachino’s and Oakes Coffee as well as our resident chef Cliff and resident Beverly. Judges were spoilt by an array of different aromas, spices, textures and flavours and while every team put in a great deal of effort to make 1st Prize – JAMAICA-ME-CRAZY – Andre Terblance
