THORNHILL LIFE T Development in Modderfontein he following information was received at a meeting with the shop developers, Navada regarding the location of the proposed taxi rank. There will be a set of traffic lights to replace the existing traffic circle at the entrance/exit of the estate. Valley Road will be replaced by a road alongside the church, Go Ape, and the shops, terminating at Johannesburg Road at a set of traffic lights. The exit from Lakeside will likewise be via a set of traffic lights to replace the existing roundabout. A turn off will be constructed along Valley Road east of the Thornhill Estate traffic lights. This will be as near to the estate entrance as is practical. This turn off will lead into: • On the Left hand side, a parking facility for people using the proposed park, which will be on property leased from Acacia, and is to be set up along the dam edge as far as the Dynamite Café. This will be fenced off for security and to prevent the use of the water’s edge, by fishermen. Access to the park will be via a turn style in the parking area. There will be a small fee. There will be a bridge constructed across the Thornhill Stream. This parking facility will also serve the St Francis Church community. Access to the proposed restaurant (which will replace the former library) will be possible from the park on a “one way” system. • On the right hand side will be the taxi rank with an ablution facility. The existing Valley road between the fir trees will become a parking facility for the patrons of Go Ape, with access from the roundabout at the intersection of Valley and Johannesburg Roads.
