Oaktree Village’s AGM and ‘Bring and Braai’
n spite of the pouring rain, on October 2, homeowners in Oaktree Village,
trooped into the Talhami home for the Annual Oaktree Village Home
Owners Association (OVHA) AGM and Braai, admittedly with somewhat
gloomy faces at the thought of our braai being washed out. The mood
lightened as the Meeting got underway and members started to interact and
a lively discussion ensued.
At this point, it should be noted
that the OVHA is a subcommit-
tee of the THOA, with its own
Constitution: the main objec-
tives being the management
of the aesthetic appearance of
Oaktree Village and the pro-
motion of the interests of its
members.
The discussion involved both
positive and problem areas.
On the plus side, the members
extended their thanks to the
THOA Board for the installa-
tion of the long awaited speed
bumps. Members were all in
agreement that Oaktree Village
is one of the most agreeable
and attractive enclaves on the
Estate. We have a wonderful
lifestyle here and the ambi-
ence is great. This is due to
the unique architecture of our
village and the generally well
maintained properties and
pavements, despite the drought
and Fredd’s fibre installation
activities. In addition, having
lost our beloved oak trees last
year, their replacements are
thriving and will soon add to
the ambience of our Village.
Most important, however, is
a prevailing sense of good
neighbourliness, co-operation
and community spirit. It’s not
uncommon in the early evening,
