ing two wonderful “ Yuletide Season ” workshops for adults and children . The workshops will be led by Pebble Hill ’ s horticulturist and floral designer , Laura Strickland . Strickland has 30 years ’ experience with Pebble Hill and the Sea Island Company and is both creative and extremely talented .
Participants for the December 1st wreathmaking workshop for adults will utilize natural materials gathered from the Pebble Hill property . The floral design workshop for youth includes creating floral arrangements and nature-based Christmas ornaments from fresh greenery and natural materials also gathered from the grounds and gardens of Pebble Hill . This workshop is a great way to engage children in creating something beautiful that they can share with their families and friends for the holidays . Who knows ? The ornaments they create may become family heirlooms that will be enjoyed for generations to come .
Another very special event planned for “ Yuletide Season ” is a Main House tour with Executive Director , Whitney White , and Museum Curator , Lori Curtis , as the guides . Tours with these two ladies are incredibly detailed and entertaining , as they both have such a great depth of knowledge of the history of Pebble Hill and a shared passion for it , as well . After the tour , participants will be treated to a luncheon on the front porch of the Main House overlooking the beautiful grounds , much the way the Hanna and Ireland families would have . This exclusive event is offered December 9th .
For those who want a truly unique experience , there will be two evenings of after-hours tours of the Main House offered December 8th and 9th . Nothing can compare to touring this gracious historic home in the fading light of day . The warmth of the house with its elegant lighting and sparkling trees , the scents of pine , and the deep rich red of velvet ribbon , and dozens of poinsettias will be a treat for all of your senses . The blend of history and holiday joy are a combination sure to ignite the spirit of the season .
Don ’ t forget that tickets to tour Pebble Hill Plantation make great gifts or stocking stuffers . Our Visitors Center also has several book titles , tote bags , coffee mugs , and other great last-minute gift ideas . In addition to the “ Yuletide Season ” events , the Main House / Museum and Grounds are open regular operating hours and will be open the day after Thanksgiving . The Main House will remain decorated through the end of the year .
