Every family has their time-honored traditions and as the song says , “ There ’ s no place like home for the holidays .” The Hanna and Ireland families , who owned Pebble Hill from 1896 until Elisabeth “ Pansy ” Ireland Poe ’ s death in 1978 , celebrated the holidays here every year . Pebble Hill was their winter home , and they opened their doors to friends and relations from all over during this festive season .
This December , Pebble Hill Plantation will carry on the tradition of opening its doors to visitors from far and wide to enjoy the beauty of the house and the decorations that adorn each and every room . This will be “ Yuletide Season ” at Pebble Hill . The history of the holidays in this great house speaks from every nook and cranny , and a visit to the house is truly a step back in time . Nostalgia will always be the prevailing theme of Christmas at Pebble Hill .
The decorations at Pebble Hill and the very house itself , are relics of the past and together create a true travel-back-in-time experience . Something about Christmas always has us looking back at the past with fondness and longing for simpler times .
