The Harrell House ( 1853 )

420 South Hansell St .

Constructed as a one-story residence for grocer David Harrell , it is described in an 1865 advertisement : “ Come and look at my place in Tockwotton- the dwelling is comparatively new with five rooms and the same number of fireplaces , large hall through the center with piazza in front and rear- the neighborhood cannot be surpassed .” The house was purchased by future congressman Seaborn Anderson Roddenberry in the late 1890s , who added the second story and Neo-classical facade . The home is currently owned by Ben and Haile McCollum .
