Hello and welcome to the Summer 2023 edition of Thomasville Scene ! For those who I haven ’ t had the opportunity to meet yet , my name is Jill Holloway and I am so excited to be working with Thomasville Scene . Magazine journalism is my first love , and I have longed for the opportunity to get to work with such an amazing community .
In this issue , you will find stunning historic homes , along with amazing works of renovation and innovation . The idea behind this issue stemmed from the Love / Warren Avenue Historic Tour of Homes that took place in early March .
When I first heard we would have the opportunity to attend and photograph the homes featured on the tour , I really wanted our magazine to center around the idea of “ what ’ s old is new again .” This is certainly true in the case of many stories . We are able to see everything from train depots being renovated into restaurants , historic homes undergoing complete restoration projects and even artists who take recyclable materials to turn it into something completely unique .
It ’ s also the case for design , as you will see wallpaper has made a complete comeback , and I must admit , if I didn ’ t live in an apartment , I would be all over this design trend .
Through all these stories , I was able to see just how amazing Thomasville truly is and how dedicated the community is to historic preservation . We have so much to be proud of , and our history is only the tip of the iceberg .
I look forward to showcasing even more of what makes Thomasville special in the editions to come !
