Hunter Broadway
“ We were Century 21 Broadway & Associates for approximately 15 years and then we became Thomasville Real Estate Group Inc . after that ,” he said .
Continuing to operate in the Thomasville area , Howard ’ s son , Hunter Broadway , became involved in the business around 2013 , according to his father .
“ My son came into the business about 10 years ago ,” Howard said .
Licensed in both Florida and Georgia , Hunter said that he got interested in real estate much in the same way as his own father had in his childhood , having spent his life alongside his father as he worked and drove around Thomasville .
“ Just growing up , I watched my dad do it ,” Hunter said . “ It kinda enticed me to get into it .”
Howard said that while his son is currently an associate broker , he fully intends on having him become a broker in the next year or so , continuing on to say his son has an interest in renovating the historical building they operate out of .
“ He is our associate broker , and will become the broker in the next year or so ,” Howard said . “ He wants to do a total renovation and to restore it to its natural historical beauty .”
Having been in real estate for so long , Howard and Gerald agreed that a lot of common real estate
practices have come and gone with new technology opening up new roads for selling .
“ Real estate has come a long way , the technology part of it has ,” Gerald said .
From the time when pagers , home magazines and early morning office hours for floor days and walk-ins were the norm , Howard said , now it was more common to get a call on your cellphone no matter where you were . He added that his son had even been doing virtual tours through FaceTime .
“ It ’ s been a big change from what you used to see ,” he said . “ Used to be , you sit in your office . Now they call your cellphone .”
Real estate has a lot more socializing today , according to Hunter , with real estate agents needing to get out into the community and strike up conversations with locals , rather than expecting them to simply come to them .
Gerald said that meeting people and working with them to find the right property for what they need , was some of the best fun he had out on the job .
“ You ’ re working with them .” he said . “ It ’ s phenomenal , the people you meet . That ’ s fun to me .”
And real estate in Thomasville , according to the Broadways , has been doing very well recently . “ It ’ s very good right now ,” Gerald said . Hunter agreed , saying that the issue right now was not with the demand , even with higher interest rates , but rather with the supply . “ Inventory is pretty low ,” he said . The reason , according to Howard , is all about how strong of a city and community Thomasville has built itself to be over the years , owing a lot of that growth to Mainstreet and the Chamber of Commerce .
“ Thomasville has really built itself up . Downtown Thomasville has made this city what it is ,” he said .
And when someone gets into the market , trying to find a new property for their family or otherwise , both Howard and Hunter agreed that it was important to find the right agent .
“ Pick the right agent , make sure they ’ re familiar with the city ,” Hunter said .
Having watched the real estate in Thomasville grow , Howard said that he remembered so many stories over the years and respected all of the other agents in the local area , saying that he wished everyone well .
“ We respect every agent in this town ,” he said . “ We wish everyone well .”
