The Dyson House was built around 1854 as a one-story wood-frame cottage for Thomasville attorney John Martial Dyson . In 1904 , owner Dena Snodgrass added a second floor and the neo- classical front . Inherited by her daughter Gabrielle Hawkins Herbener , it remained in the family for almost 85 years . Today , the home is owned by Amy and Chris Hart .
