Hello and welcome to the March 2025 edition of Thomasville Scene !
This issue is one of my favorites we get to put together . I love seeing all of the brides and creativity put in to make their day unique . To top it off , my sister got married to the love of her life in September , making this issue even more special .
Prior to my sister getting married , I had only been a bridesmaid . My only real role had been to show up for the bachelorette party , numerous showers , and bridesmaid luncheon , and then walk down the aisle on the big day , ensuring the bride felt confident and beautiful . Being a Maid of Honor and the sister to the bride gave me a new perspective . My mom and sister spent hours with her wedding planner . Numerous vision boards were created with color schemes , flowers , tablescapes , and open seating . My sister wanted the wedding to be ( mostly ) a surprise to me . I wasn ’ t able to sit in on these calls , but the moment I walked into her ceremony and especially the reception space , I knew all of the hours of calling and planning had paid off . Her wedding was truly a work of art . My sister Alex dared to be different . Most of the weddings we had attended in Albany were always held at the bride ’ s church with a reception following at the local country club or the Shackleford House . Alex had attended Hammer Jam , an annual event held by Habitat for Humanity , with my parents at The Manor House , when she realized she didn ’ t want the same as everyone else .
The Manor House is hard to describe . It is a revitalized motor lodge , with a historic front building .
As she looked around at Hammer Jam and saw the stage and the crowds , she asked my parents if they thought a wedding could happen there . My parents didn ’ t see why not , and to Alex ’ s luck neither did the wedding planner . The wedding was the first to ever take place at Manor House , and the owners were so excited they hired their own videographers to tape Alex ’ s special day . Following the wedding , they got three calls just that week for inquiries about weddings . I think that ’ s what makes not just her wedding , but every bride ’ s wedding so special . No one sees the day the same . Every bride has a vision that only they can see and truly make come to life . For my sister , it was having a 200 + person wedding at a motor lodge , complete with a live band and rooms for everyone to stay . For other brides , it ’ s having an intimate ceremony with a champagne toast at St .
James , followed by a fun reception days later . There ’ s no one-size-fits-all wedding . Every wedding is perfect in its own way . As long as the bride and groom are happy , the wedding has been a success . I am so thankful to every bride who gave us a glimpse into their beautiful day . I know all the hard work and planning that went into it , and from the pictures , I would say every bit of paid off .
