HOW WE MET
Aulston and I met the summer before our freshman year of college ; we were both selected to be in what Georgia College called The Bridge Scholars Program . We were sitting in class on the second day making vision boards , dreaming about our futures . He was sitting in the front , and I was sitting in the back . I just couldn ’ t believe no one was talking to the cute guy in the front , so I shot my shot , and from that moment on we were inseparable !
THE PROPOSAL
Aulston is a very thoughtful and sentimental man , so according to him , he has had the idea for the proposal for years before he actually asked the question . Our first date was very special to us because we knew that our connection was too close to not act on it . He took me to our favorite restaurant , drove us around our sweet little town where we would spend the next four years , and out to the lake to look up at the stars and dream of our future . He recreated that same date on our one year anniversary , and again to propose ! He had every picture we had ever taken in the 7 years we had been together printed and hung in the backyard of the lake house , and he popped the question on that same dock where we talked about spending forever together . Then , a quick boat ride down the lake later and both of our families surprised us with a sweet celebration ! It was the best day !
THE DRESS
I got my gorgeous dress from Wedding Angels in Roswell , Ga .! My mom , Mother-in-Law , aunt , cousin and Maid of Honor came with me to help make such a huge decision . I tried on all kinds of dresses because I wasn ’ t sure what style I wanted ; all I knew was that I wanted something simple and elegant . Many dresses later and with a tear or two shed , everyone in the room knew that my dress was THE dress ! It was gorgeous in the fitting room and it was gorgeous on October 5th !
FAVORITE DETAILS
One of our favorite moments during the day was our Ring Warming ceremony that took place during the ceremony . Every guest had the opportunity to bless and pray over Aulston and I ’ s wedding bands . The people in our lives are so important to us that we wanted them to feel a part of our day and now the rings we wear everyday have been held and prayed over by the people that mean the most to us ! We also really loved our private dinner that we got to share after the ceremony . We did not have a first look , so this was the first real time during the day that it was just us two . We got to chat about how our day has gone , freak out over the fact that we are husband and wife , and take a breath together before joining the celebration with all of our friends and family !
