The show had five divisions : I Horticulture , II Designs , III Educational Exhibits , IV Commercial Exhibits , and V Youth Horticulture . These five divisions always showcase Thomasville Garden Club ’ s love of gardening and design . The horticulture sections also permit members of the public , adults and children , knowledgeable and amateur alike , as well as garden club members , to enter horticulture specimens for all to admire and , sometimes , to see for the first time . The Educational Exhibits serve one of the purposes of TGC , Inc .; that is , teaching the public and youth , especially , the value of gardening and fostering the love of gardening in everyone . TGC , Inc is proud of the support of commercial enterprises and the direct participation of several of them in the Commercial Exhibits division .
DIVISION I – HORTICULTURE
Singing in the Garden Nothing but Flowers
Section A – Container Grown Plants , Flowering / Colorful Bracts ( leaflike or scalelike plant part , usually small , showy or brightly colored ) Winner : Echeveria lilacina ( Ghost Echeveria , also known as Hens and Chicks ; a succulent ); Sharon Johnson , Lady Banks Garden Club . Also won The National Garden Clubs Inc . Growers Choice Award .
Where Have All the Flowers Gone Section B – Container-Grown Plants , Foliage only Winner : Colocasia esculenta ( Elephant Ears ); Marcy Sizemore , Lady Banks Garden Club . Also won The National Garden Clubs Inc . Growers Choice Award .
We Built This Garden Section C – Shrubs Winner : Camellia ; Janice Lawhorn , Briarcliff Garden Club . Also won The National Garden Clubs Inc . Arboreal Award in memory of Doris Smith .
