Get 2023 off to a Berry Good Start

Blueberries are a big industry in Georgia , in fact , more blueberries are grown in the peach state than peaches ! Its nutrient density and great taste make it a favorite , so it is no surprise that it is a three-hundred-million-dollar industry in Georgia ( as of 2020 ). Luckily they are also not too difficult to grow ! However , if you do not have a green thumb , there are plenty of opportunities to get local blueberries right in Thomas County .

Georgia blueberries are one of two types - rabbiteye blueberries and the highbush blueberries . Rabbiteyes grow best in our area , but plant at least two varieties for good pollination . Select an early and mid season or late variety to extend the harvest season . Early varieties include Alapaha , Vernon , and Titan . Mid season varieties include Brightwell , Powderblue and Tifblue .
