Sealy ’ s desire was to be healthy and lose weight .
“ As soon as I was over COVID , I mean , literally , when you ’ re released from quarantine , I gave myself a week ,” Sealy said , “ and then I immediately started . I started going to the gym , I re-enrolled in Weight Watchers , for what felt like the one thousandth time at that point , and I said , ‘ that ’ s it , I ’ m done with this .’”
While her bout with COVID-19 had not been dire , Sealy ’ s desire to be healthy and lose weight that had been ignited by concerns over the virus remained strong , but she said that went about her next attempt with a different mindset .
“ What made the difference for me this time over every other time was the fact that I didn ’ t do things the same ,” she said . “ I relied on some of the same tools , like Weight Watchers , but again , Weight Watchers is just a tool , Lisa Abell ’ s program is just a tool , I mean , there are medications out there that people can take advantage of now that are just a tool , but you still got to do the work .”
Digging herself in to do that work , Sealy said , was the biggest key to her success .
“ And I think that ’ s what made the difference , that I dug in to do the work this time ,” she said . “ And I wasn ’ t just looking for the easy fix , because we do want it to be easy , but unfortunately it ’ s not . I ’ ve also come to realize , you don ’ t finish this . It ’ s a journey you ’ re on for the rest of your life .”
A journey , she said , that involved finding what worked and what didn ’ t for her , from finding a balance with her carbs to getting up early in the morning and going to the gym .
Every new tool she gained was one more motivator for her change in lifestyle , which included personal trainers , local gyms and Thomasville native Lisa Asbell ’ s Well Weight Loss program .
“ I didn ’ t start following Lisa until much later in the program ,” she said . “ I maybe had lost about 40 or 50 pounds by that point , and I had been Facebook friends with her for a very long time and had seen her transformation , so of course , that ’ s inspiring for you to see when other people do it .”
Asbell ’ s program , Sealy said , was all about preparing the mind and training it to allow the body to pursue a healthier lifestyle . Half the battle , she said ,
