Bookworms unite at The Bookshelf ’ s Reader Retreat

Inviting the bookish and the thoughtful to experience the vitality of Thomasville , The Bookshelf ’ s Reader Retreats draw new eyes to the City of Roses from as far as the west coast .

Caroline Owens , the marketing and events manager , said that The Bookshelf has been a mainstay of downtown Thomasville since the 1980s , with it recently celebrating its 10th anniversary under current owner Annie B . Jones .
“ The Bookshelf has been in existence , actually , since the 1980s under different ownerships ,” she said . “ So , it has been a mainstay in downtown Thomasville for decades now . The current owner and operator , Annie B . Jones , has been here since 2013 , so we actually celebrated 10 years of her owning and operating The Bookshelf this May .”
Owens said The Bookshelf prided itself as a women-ran bookstore that flourished within the enterprising atmosphere of downtown , which is home to many other locally owned businesses .
