It was only after some confusion with one of her travel guests over her club name , which was a very common one , that she decided to change it to 321 Let ’ s Go Travel Club , which is actually a reference to her supportive family .
“ And so , 321 Let ’ s Go Travel Club was born ,” Smith said . “ I have three daughters , so ‘ 321 ’ is three sassy sisters , two crazy parents and one trip of a lifetime .”
After beginning in 2016 , Smith said that the travel club only did about two trips a year , one domestic and one international , but that changed when she retired in 2022 .
“ I was working full time and doing usually just two trips a year , one international and one domestic ,” she said . “ And then I retired in 2022 , so this is my first year doing it full-time . We ’ ve done Finland , Ireland , Italy , we ’ re going to Scotland in 30 days and I ’ ve got a Colors of New England trip , so we ’ ll have 5 big trips this year .”
Now with a goal of about 5 to 6 trips a year , Smith said that they ’ ve really ramped up the organizing of trips due to rising interest in the club , even branching out to appeal to other traveling tastes , like overnight stays and customized experiences .
“ It ’ s kind of interesting , I ’ ve had so many people reach out and wanting to travel so I ’ ve kind of
branched out and , actually , this December , I ’ ll have my very first trip , I ’ m doing an overnight easy trip to Callaway Gardens , to see the lights , spend the night , do the holiday dinner , and then come home ,” she said . “ So , I ’ m starting to branch out and do one night trips and now I ’ ve got to where I can customize my trips , as well .”
She said that she loves to tailor trips to the needs and wants of different groups , and that every trip they do ends up being very nice and full of smiling faces , new and old .
“ Every trip we ’ ve taken has been kind of nice , I ’ ve got a lot of repeat customers , which I ’ m thankful for , but every trip we take is about half repeat customers and half new people ,” Smith said .
Smith said that the part she plays in the trips is getting everything organized , every detail accounted for , before attending the trip herself to keep everything going smoothly .
“ I ’ ll organize it , I ’ ll get all the details , I tell everybody I ’ m just a fun factor ,” Smith said . “ I just go and make sure that all the T ’ s are crossed and all the I ’ s are dotted . Once we get to our location , we have a tour manager . So , there ’ ll always be a local tour guide , they usually handle everything .”
