UNTITLED 2013 ( THOMAS DEMANDS HERE ) RIRKRIT TIRAVANIJA
Four years after Thomas Demand , Rirkrit Tiravanija realised a work for CCA Kitakyushu as a guest resident . During preparations he visited the Black Label bar , which had meanwhile become quite familiar to visitors of the CCA . He was charmed by the place as well as the owner , Teruko Ikegami , who received all of her guests warm-heartedly . He decided to start from the work of Demand , but to put the focus on social contact . As Rirkrit Tiravanija himself commented : “ The work is a combination of sculptural and relational elements . I again worked with the location and existing models , through observation of residents and everyday life in Kitakyushu and its surroundings .”
In M the two works are jointly on display for the first time .
