P AGE 06 Level: Movie night Eli Kay Writer Going out is fun and all, but sometimes you just want to put your pyjamas on and stay on the couch for the whole day. I know I do! So here’s a few crazy ideas to spend your time indoors as fun as possible. MOVIE TO WATCH: “Mr Peabody and Sherman:” An incredible action-adventure with time-travel and comedy, featuring a genius dog who is a scientist and inventor and his adopted son, Sherman who has a hard time with a bully at school. When Sherman breaks the rules of the time-travelling machine in order to impress his bully, all three of them will embark in an amazing journey through time, trying to save past, present and future. WHAT TO EAT: MOVIE NOT TO WATCH: “Planes:” Sad to say there was nothing original with this movie. A race, an underdog and probably a victory in the end, to be honest I didn’t watch the whole thing. The jokes were shallow and the story was predictable. Even my four-year-old niece didn’t like it, and that is a shame for a company that is famous for its creativity and innovation. There’s nothing memorable about it. All this talk of animated films got me in the mood for something that takes me back to my childhood, fruit popsicles. Healthy, sweet and frozen, good for summer nights. It’s easy to make. Take plastic cups and fill them with chopped fruit, kiwi, strawberries, berries and pineapple, and top with juice, pineapple and passion fruit. Add a wooden stick or a plastic spoon, freeze overnight and enjoy. NEUTRAL film: “Turbo:” A common garden snail with big dreams of winning the Indy 500 gets his chance when a freak accident gives him super speed. The story might resemble the concept of “Planes” but DreamWorks gave it depth and ended it with a meaningful message that if you have big dreams, you can make them come true not by magical intervention but by sheer will and determination. It is a good film for everyone. WHERE TO SURF: Why not go online and make an animated video. That sounds like fun! There are a couple of great sites online, www. moovly.com and www.powtoon.com that allow creation of custom cartoons, editing of videos and putingt them online for others to see. Does that sounds hard? Well, it can downloaded like the bitstrips app on a smart phone which allows those who use it cartoon-ize themselves and friends who also use the app.
