emonstrating the digital and
creative expertise and ambitions
of the Tees Valley is the annual
international Animex festival.
The largest of its kind in the UK, the
animation and games festival is celebrating
its 20th birthday in 2020, growing in scope to
attract an even larger market at its Teesside
University and Middlesbrough Town Hall
locations.
The event is attended by industry
professionals, academics, researchers, college
and university students and animation and
games lovers across the UK and Europe. For
a week each May, they visit the town for a
blend of talks, workshops, exhibitions and
screenings.
For the first time in 2020, Animex will
see alumni from Teesside University return
to provide career advice, as well as shining
the spotlight on comics and the work of
independent games studios.
As the sector continues to grow, with the
vision to make the town the UK’s digital city,
Animex too will go from strength to strength.
