Publishing and events firm marks 10 years of‘ Talking Up Teesside’

The Tees region has taken huge strides in the past 10 years – and the publishers of This Is Tees Valley have been with it every step of the way.

In 2015, experienced PR professionals Dave Allan and Martin Walker set up Resolution Media and Publishing to reflect and support Teesside’ s burgeoning business scene.
Named after one of Teesside-born explorer Captain James Cook’ s ships from his famed voyages of discovery, it was a bold venture for Dave and Martin, who were previously colleagues in Middlesbrough FC’ s media department.
After Martin successfully launched Aycliffe Business magazine to reflect the business scene in his hometown, both were convinced the template would transfer to Teesside. And how right they were.
Their core product, the high-quality quarterly publication Tees Business, is now the recognised“ voice of business” in the Tees region.
But Resolution is now about so much more than one magazine, with a string of awards events reflecting the area’ s brilliant business performers and a host of other high-quality publications produced throughout the year – including This Is Tees Valley, of which this is the fifth annual edition.
And as they reflect on 10 years of Resolution, Dave and Martin are excited about what’ s to come for the region they’ re proud to call home.
Martin said:“ There’ s a real buzz about what’ s happening on Teesside and we will always reflect that – whether it be Teesworks, SeAH Wind, Net Zero Teesside, big projects like that, or exciting developments at places like Wilton Engineering, PD Ports and the
Wilton Centre.
“ There’ s also the digital revolution taking place – we’ re the fastest-growing tech hub outside London, led by the likes of global games developers Double Eleven.
“ So, huge strides have been taken but there are still many more to take and lots of things happening under the radar. It’ s a very exciting time.”
Dave added:“ As a company, we’ ve done a lot to fight stereotypes and misconceptions about Teesside and this is part of that battle cry – Tees Valley remains a brilliant place to invest in.
“ From the start, we issued a rallying call to create a real business community. Since then, we’ ve brought people together and given a strong message to the rest of the UK about this region’ s heritage, potential and ambition – plus the sense of opportunity and drive that exists here.”
