World-leading schemes by big businesses are continuing to market the region to would-be investors , but we ’ re also making huge waves across our culture , creative and visitor sectors .
One of the major drivers to success for visitor economy businesses old and new is that the region has now secured Local Visitor Economy Partnership ( LVEP ) status .
LVEPs were established by the government to transform the nation ’ s visitor economy and provide key benefits , including access to investment and support from national tourism body VisitEngland and through greater local , regional and national collaboration .
This designation means Tees Valley is now on an equal footing with areas such as County Durham , Northumberland , Liverpool and Manchester .
The LVEP will work with public and private sector partners , creating an LVEP Board to promote the region ’ s offer across the UK and internationally while ultimately helping businesses flourish , create more jobs and make the region an even better place to live and visit .
The board will also work alongside businesses , organisations and the Tees Valley Business Board to ensure it supports start-up and scale-up , and is investor friendly for incoming firms .
The first project under the LVEP banner has been working with VisitEngland to grab new , dynamic , professional promotional shots of Tees Valley to be used in marketing material far and wide .
Support – Tees Valley Artists of the Year , including Middlesbrough singer-songwriter Amelia Coburn , Darlington author Lisette Auton , Stockton-based visual artist Claire A Baker , theatremaker Scott Turnbull and Stockton film-maker Andy Berriman .
