At the site , Sembcorp provides energyintensive industrial businesses with combined heat and power via a private wire network that supplies electricity generated by gas , biomass and energy from waste .
Sembcorp owns most of the available development land at Wilton International and offers pre-consented industrial development plots with ready-to-use power , utilities and infrastructure , reducing investment project costs , risk and timeframes .
Sembcorp endeavours to reduce the emissions of the power it supplies to customers at Wilton International with emerging solutions that could involve low-carbon hydrogen or carbon capture , usage and storage ( CCUS ).
It is ready and committed to supporting new customers participating in sustainable supply chains , such as those working in the battery energy storage systems ( BESS ), hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels areas .
SEMBCORP ’ S TEESSIDE ROLE Teesside is a prime location for future decarbonised power , encouraging investment and supporting regional growth . For example , it is part of the East Coast Cluster , one of the UK ’ s first two CCUS projects , and the region is already the largest producer and consumer of hydrogen in the UK .
