leading provider of manufacturing and engineering solutions catering for a diverse range of clients including BAE Systems , the National Grid , Unilever , FujiFilm and many more , the Addison group comprises three distinct arms – with a key element now established on Teesside .
Lancashire ’ s Addison Precision , recent winner of the Red Rose Made in Lancashire award , has been servicing blue-chip clients for more than 40 years , manufacturing across multiple markets from a state-of-theart facility and operating under the latest ISO accreditations .
Addison Engineering , also based in Lancashire , was founded 26 years ago and provides hands-on engineering life cycle support to various process-led industries , while Addison Project , also operating for 26 years , opened a third office in 2020 at Middlesbrough ’ s Riverside Park due to client demand , having worked in Teesside for a decade , and is the current NEPIC Engineering Firm of the Year .
With a focus on delivering exceptional levels of customer service in a highly competitive way , the expansion to Teesside was further cemented by Addison ’ s collaboration as principal contractor with local firm Lianhetech .
“ It became very obvious that there were many opportunities available and if we wanted to be considered we would need roots in the area ,” admits CEO Marcus Addison .

sets it apart . “ We ’ re a family business and sustainability has always been a core part of our ethos .
“ Fifteen years ago , we invested in a large solar installation and the last two years have seen further installations across the company to reduce energy costs and to support our net zero journey .
“ There are many more examples where we have designed practical solutions to reduce environmental impacts , including energy consumption and protection of local communities , biodiversity and ecosystems .
“ We emphasise recycling and waste reduction , water conservation and resource reuse and have recently invested in electric cars and vans .”
The group applies its environmental approach when designing projects , often working as an extension of their clients ' own in-house resources with an ethos of transparency , respectfulness and trust .
They collaborate with supply chains to select sustainable solutions and efficient manufacturing processes , prioritising locally sourced resources where possible .
“ We are well ahead on our sustainability journey and maintain an open-door policy for others to learn from our experiences ,” says Marcus , adding that the firm has partnered with experts at Positive Planet to develop a robust carbon reduction plan .
“ We initially aimed to reach net zero by 2030 but are currently undergoing the necessary measures to achieve this goal much sooner .
“ Additionally , we are launching an academy , consolidating our internal staff training and offering it to clients via a new website .”
This dedication to sustainability extends to staff wellbeing , with a strong focus on developing people through apprenticeships , graduate traineeships and knowledge enhancement .
Addison ’ s social values have been in place since its formation , with support for families via sponsorships and patronage of grassroots teams .
During Covid , 10 staff were trained as mental health first aiders and contracts offer wellbeing as standard .
“ We are putting our money where our mouth is , not only because we think it ’ s vital , but because it will hopefully help us in our current recruitment drive to fill a variety of roles including designers , engineers , project managers and project engineers plus millers , turners and sheet metal fabricators .”
And while the growth of the Addison businesses is fantastic for the Tees region and beyond , Marcus says , " This won ’ t mean losing sight of our core values or our customers ' success being our priority ."
