Indeed , ITS is developing fast and using digital twins to virtualise machine and process design , so that customers can see a process in action in 3D . This enables a better understanding of the layout , ergonomics and performance of the design , therefore de-risking and speeding up the design , build and installation of the system .
AR / VR headsets are used to extend the digital twin so that people can move around the virtual environment , viewing things from different angles to check everything is right with the design and using it to train people to be ready for working on the real thing , safely and efficiently .
But it ’ s not all about systems and tech for ITS - it ’ s about people , and the firm likes to put something back by helping young people develop their future from an early age .
Through a partnership with the Children Challenging Industry programme , schoolchildren can learn about engineering and industrial tech in their formative years , thus developing the engineers and innovators of the future for the progression of the industry .
ITS has also developed close links with Teesside University and is currently partnering with them in several areas to help prepare young people for their working life , through delivering training and masterclasses focusing on delivering solutions to real world problems while they are still studying .
Throughout Covid , ITS kept in close contact with all staff , calling them weekly to talk about how they were and to see if any help was needed . The whole company also met on Teams every week to see what the future held .
It worked well , so every Thursday at 1pm , they all get together and talk about what ’ s happening in the company and what the future holds . Carole Knott , ITS head of operations , explained : “ The whole experience brought people in the company much closer together , strengthening all of our relationships .”
