Teesside was brought back into public ownership and saved from closure in 2019 by the Tees Valley mayor and Combined Authority .
Since then , it has welcomed more than 322,00 passengers through its doors and work is well underway on a 10-year turnaround plan to grow the airport and its services to more than a million passengers annually .
Following a multi-million-pound terminal transformation , Teesside Airport is offering passengers a pre-flight welcome like never before .
The Landside Café and Skybar give you options to relax in the terminal even before you check in . New state-of-the-art body and bag scanners mean you do not have to remove electronics or liquid from your hand luggage , making moving through security and to departures faster , smoother and more hassle-free than ever . Bannatyne Group ’ s luxury spa – the company ’ s first in an airport – offers shot beauty treatments , after a £ 100,000 investment by Duncan Bannatyne .
The airport acts as an international gateway to scores of global destinations for business and leisure passengers thanks to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines ’ twicedaily connections to the award-winning Amsterdam Schiphol Airport .
For sunseekers , TUI , the UK ’ s biggest holiday firm , has welcomed its first Teesside Airport passengers in almost a decade as it launched its summer breaks to Majorca .
