Over the last four years BCS has planted their flags in Huntington Beach sand, aspiring
to become the “gateway” to social life in So Cal through their membership. As a social
group, they’ve gone river rafting, taken trips to Las Vegas and Big Bear and list a good
number of creative social outings that includes renting party buses and limos for pub
crawls. They also have a Monday Night coed bowling league social at Costa Mesa
Tavern Bowl.
After observing the BCS coed flag-football league on Tuesday and Thursday nights and
Volleyball competitions on Wednesday’s at the beach this past summer, it’s fair to say
that most of these 20 and 30 year old adults are from parents who cleared off
bookshelves to hold all the trophies they’d won. Mostly, it would seem that these young
competitors arrived by way of a generation of parental anxiety that wanted more
competitive opportunities for their children focused on athletics.
Lisa Taylor, who says she’s collected enough BCS t-shirts to make a quilt, competing
on two to three teams per season, was introduced to BCS through her two guy
roommates in Newport Beach. An attractive 20-ish plus size blond—without the fluff—
