consumed every day! That’s how much electricity Poseidon’s reverse osmosis process needs
daily to push 100 million gallons of seawater through a series of filters to remove the salt and
impurities.
With so much justifiable emphasis on efficient water practices, pumping Poseidon’s excess
production into the ground while consuming enormous amounts of energy hardly seems
consistent with conservation—particularly when paying three times the current cost per acre-foot
for water. Higher electricity rates seem an almost certainty.
Funding water projects and programs
“The Governor took some real leadership in that bond proposal” last November says
Assemblyman Wagner, which he supported saying “the state has started to take concrete steps
and not just kick the can down the road hoping for an El Nino.” Proposition 1, the $7.545 billion
water bond provided a significant infusion of funding for water projects and programs in California.
Wagner believes that “greywater is something that needs to be considered because right now the
problem is so severe we need to consider virtually everything that is out there.” To be clear,
greywater is waste-water that generally comes from sinks, tubs, washing machines and other
household water streams—not toilets!
