the > recap HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED LAST MONTH Apps Curbside Retail e idea of retail pickup without stepping foot out of the car is nothing new; a number of companies around the world opened the 2013 holiday season with the option. With the introduction of Sears’s “Shop Your Way” mobile app though, curbside pickup will be a permanent fixture with the company’s Free Store Pickup service. Sure, the customer still has to drive to the store, but with a five minute guaranteed delivery from the time of arrival, the deal doesn’t sound too bad. PSFK e Moda Operandi App Moda Operandi raised the bar when they essentially made runways immediately shoppable, but they’ve outdone themselves with their first app. Expanding on the company’s main idea, the app allows users to like or dismiss looks, basically curating lookbooks from their favorite shows. e app also provides an alert to when certain looks become available. FASHIONISTA Finding Fashions ASAP Googling a pair of glasses that were seen on the street generally turns out a list of results that vary from Lenscraers to Warby Parker, but rarely the style originally seen. e frustration of the search is what spurred the creation of ASAP54, an app that takes aim at ending the endless search results of the wrong products. e app uses incredible recognition soware to identify key elements of certain products to search for and locate a place to purchase the items that the user is looking for. (Editor’s note: Check out our blog post about ASAP54 here.) BUSINESS OF FASHION Bra Fitting Selfies For some, personal fittings like being measured for the perfect bra fit can be uncomfortable, but thanks to an app from ird Love the fitting can be complete with a quick selfie at home. Using specially developed photo technology, the app could not only potentially revolutionize an approach to online commerce, but could enhance the direct to consumer model as well. Eliminating the need for a separate body scanning system or a measuring tape will change the whole concept of submitting measurements for bespoke or size-specific clothing. PSFK // 7
