Recommended Books: THROWBACK EDITION Just as vintage fashion can be more beautifully built that today’s current trends, some classic business books can be packed with even more wisdom than some of today’s current editions. Here are a couple of books that have been popular for a combined 150 years. If you haven’t read them yet, check them out. If you’ve read them before, it may be time to take a second look. Both a business book and a self-help book of sorts, this classic tome is from author Napoleon Hill. Published in 1937 at the urging of Andrew Carnegie (no big deal, right?), this book aims to teach people how to be better, more effective humans. Hill passed away in 1970, but the book has only increased in popularity since that time, to the tune of over 70 million copies sold. Published the year before ink and Grow Rich, in 1936 (the depression was a good time for rethinking things), this book is also a combination of business guide and self improvement tool. Stemming from a business improvement course that Carnegie used to teach, one of the biggest fans of the book (and graduates of the course) is none other than Warren Buffet. “Remember that a person's name is, to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language.” // 29
