TOP 10 MOMENTS IN FASHION TECH 2013 1 FA SHION TEC H HACKATH ONS The world’s first two fashiontech hackathons took place within one week of each other in February in New York City. First was Decoded Fashion’s event, followed a few days later by the Hearst / AngelHack / Third Wave Fashion event. Once the floodgates were opened, everyone from the CFDA & Glamour to Dallas’ rewardStyle threw their fashionable hats into the hackathon ring. 2 ANGELA AHRENDTS M OVE FROM BURBERRY TO APPLE There were lots of surprising and exciting fashion / tech / retail moves this year: Ronald Johnson’s move from Apple to JCPenney and then out, Twitter’s hiring of a Commerce Chief, and the former head of Yves Saint Laurent’s move to Apple. However, our top pick for the year was the surprising move of the über-successful luxury CEO into head of retail for a tech company. Rumor has it that it signifies a whole new push for Apple, either into wearables or into emerging retail markets. // 17
