It wouldn't be a Sunderland season without a torrid
start, a managerial change and a late surge to
safety. History repeated itself yet again as the
Black Cats used up another of their nine lives. Sam
Allardyce was the conductor behind the latest
great escape, steering his side away from the drop
zone thanks to wins over Norwich, Chelsea and
Everton. But it was relegating their arch nemisis
which was the icing on the cake. While the NorthEast derby will be missed, Big Sam will also be
missing from next season after he chose to take
the England vacancy. David Moyes is the new man
at the helm hoping to bring stability to a club which
desperately needs it. Anything other than a
relegation battle would be a good start. Moyes did
wonders at Everton before his reputation was
tarnished at Manchester United. Recharged, can
the Scot steady Sunderland's ship?
