IT juggernaut unveils cloud
based platform for business
operations

Customer’ product
in Kenya offering
local companies
a cloud-based
platform for
their commercial
transactions.
Regional
Oracle software as a service sales development and
strategy leader Swami Natarajan said Kenyan IRMS
now had a secure ‘cloud’ platform to store their
data and use it in real time for their internal and
external operations.
“Our customers can leverage on Oracle Cloud
services while running their internal operations,
dealing with external customers and using the
platform to offer a variety of services to clients,”
he said.

Showmax signs broadcast deal with
BBC eyeing 36 Africa states
Video-on-demand (VOD) operator Showmax has
signed a deal that will see it beam BBC Worldwide
programmes to 36 African countries. The deal will see
Showmax, available in Kenya, show 150 hours of natural
history, drama and factual entertainment programming
from the British public broadcaster.
Among the programmes on offer include the natural
history series Planet Earth II, TV drama series call the
Midwife; The Durrell’s; and The Collection. Showmax
Africa head Chris Savides said inclusion of BBC shows
would help them lure more audiences to their online VOD
site.
“This deal is great news for our subscribers and with
their continued support we are looking forward to adding
even more BBC content in the future,” he said TB
Data tipped to spur growth among Kenyan Companies
African and Middle East based industries will spend heavily in data mining and
analysis to drive sales and improve efficiency for higher profit it’s this year. A study
conducted by International Data Corporation (IDC) indicates that financial sector players
are the biggest spenders at an estimated Sh2.8 billion which accounts for 25per cent
followed by the public sector including government, education, and healthcare at 19.8per
cent and manufacturing with 14.1 per cent.
“IDC expects the fastest growing use cases to be defense, terrorism, investigation,
and government intelligence, automated customer service, fraud analysis and
