Textile hybrid: based on isolated bent compression members Master´s degree in Parametric Design in Architecture VII. CONCLUSIONS 7.1. FURTHER RESEARCH In light of the outcome, it may be concluded important assessments, some unexpected, but positives, and others that could belong for a further research. The hypothesis has a clear important questions to examine and in this section they will be treated. One of the challenges was make an structural analysis, it is known that Kangooro2 will include accurate analyt- ical modelling and is being developed by the engineers of SmartGeometry 2016 [Holden, A. Tamke, M. Rams- gaard, M. 2016]. Until now Kangaoroo plugin proved its effectiveness only in digital form-finding process, we recognize the advantage of allowing direct manipulation of the design without a high level of specialized knowl- edge or technical skill. but still being intuitive and doesn’t include engineering (structural non-linear analysis) and production phases. Also other add-ons such as Karam- ba doesn’t allow this kind of analysis. Additionally it is known that it is important to develop a technical imple- mentaton and details proving their constructability. To start we claim that is possible to design structural membrane that works in conjuction with isolated bent compression members and develop a system with sev- eral applications within the architectural surfaces. The application of topology allows several ways of imple- mentation, it was used mainly three approaches, trian- gular, quadrilateral and hexagonal. Also we foresee other types of toplogies with different geometrical principles. Because of the implementation of topology it is guarantee the maximun number of planks with the same size, but there will always be some singularities to solved, mainly in the membrane’s boundary and in the higher curvature situations. We consider the hexagonal aproach the best for this purpose. In the topic of free-form architecture this statement is difficult to achieve. One of the main questions that this research awake is: How large could be extended the system in a project? What is the maximun extension limit for an architectural roofing solution? In the membrane behaviour it is noticed that after the stress relaxation creates a soft skin, only in the cases wich topology was applied. In the case of rationalize freeform surface the membrane turns with more wrinckles and it is torsioned. In other side it is considered that could be possible research an improve topological applications for free form-architecture. Due to the physical and digital results we know that it is possible outline the paterninng of the membrane in order to reduce the wrinkles and get more soft skin. About the structural stability it is noticed in the phys- ical models their intrinsic stiffness. Also in the digital simulaton the models were stable and behave similar to the physical ones. Additionally one of the motivations to develop the research in the proposal direction was one of the first spheric model done(Figure B3) which has too much stiffness and stability. It is worthy to mention that it is feasible to create other topologies that allow a novel behavior shaping on the skin, such as undulating patterns or complex form-find- ing geometries. -Holden, A.
