Figure C12: Quadirlateral approach topology pseudocode. This definition tries to maintain the maximun
number of regular quads in a torus.
6.2.2. QUADRILATERAL TOPOLOGY
As it can be seen in the Figure C12 it was
created a pseudocode for the quadrilateral
topology. Also this figure is useful as a scheme
related to the concept of hollow prism that is
use in the Euler´s characteristic (Figure C2)
and in the research field of toroidal carbon
nanotubes (Figure C16). This graphic shows
the steps subdivision of the quad mesh. It was
used this topological arrengement because it
guarantees the maximum amount of similar
quads and therefore same size in the planks,
also proper membrane behavior.
It was considered the problem of the proximi-
ty edges generated in bifurcations of the
negative Gaussian curvature (Figure C14 and
C15) and was solved removing some planks
and creating some triangular zones in the
overall topology. The graphic that shows the
possitive Gaussian curvature is directly related
to the Case 2 in the second phase (Figure C13
and B3), so it was uncertain to achieve siffness
in the negative gaussian curvature, but finally
with the computational tools of simulation it
was checked.
