These Holy Days—A High Holidays Supplement After October 7 | Page 69

Me , God and the Terrorist Rabbi David Ehrenkranz
( based on a survivor ’ s testimony of the October 7th attack )
I held the doorknob As he tried to enter my safe room . After my hands tired I used my legs Then I found my son ’ s pull up bar And barricaded the door .
My battery died . The sun set . And in darkness while listening To his breathing I asked God to forgive me for all my sins .
And begged Him for strength if He didn ’ t .
I wondered whose desire would give up first , My desire to live or his desire to End my life . I heard orders being yelled outside And he left me reminding me that God is great .
