Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a therapeutic recreation
internship, the following criteria must be met:
• Currently a senior in the process of obtaining a
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university in therapeutic recreation, special education,
adaptive physical education or a related field
• Working to complete NCTRC requirements to sit for
the certification exam
• Knowledge of the recreation needs of people with
disabilities
• Demonstrate strong academic performance and
provide references from a university internship
supervisor
• Desire to learn and grow as a professional and work in a
team-oriented environment
• Current contract between the university and NSSRA or
the university must be ready to contract with NSSRA if
the student is accepted
• Ability to provide proof of liability insurance in writing
once accepted

Application deadline: Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Benefits
Interns are compensated for scheduled program and
program-related hours. Scheduling of program hours are
assigned at the beginning of the internship.
