Proposed FY 2025-26 Budget
Roads and Projects
Two budget hearings are taking place this month prior to formal adoption of the FY 2025-26 budget. The first was held Sept. 8 and the second will take place Sept. 22. City Council approved the City Manager’ s proposed budget at the Summer Workshop, including a recommended property tax( millage) rate decrease for the 10th consecutive year. FY 2025-26 begins Oct. 1 and the proposed budget recommends a total of $ 869.8 million for the City’ s operating and capital funds. The proposed overall total tax rate is 4.9750 mills for FY 2025-26, a decrease from 5.0550
Floresta Drive will close from Evergreen Terrace to Calmoso Drive beginning Sept. 15. Northbound and southbound lanes will be closed to allow contractors to install drainage structures and pipes, while constructing the roadway, sidewalks, curbs and medians. The closure is expected to be in place until September 2026.
Construction began on two Florida Department of Transportation projects on Port St. Lucie Boulevard. That includes:
• Repaving the section of SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard from west of SE Shelter Drive to U. S. 1 and the portion of U. S. 1 from Port St. Lucie Boulevard south to the Martin County line. It is expected to be completed in Spring 2027.
• Widening SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard from SW Paar Drive to SW Alcantarra Boulevard. Construction began Sept. 8 and is expected to be completed in Fall 2028.
