Roads & Projects
Floresta Drive Phase 3 construction is underway, with the contractor working on necessary drainage for the stormwater retention pond at Harborview Drive. Lane closures are anticipated on Floresta Drive for Harborview Drive and Arton Lane through July. In mid-June, dolphin sculptures were installed in the oval-about at Floresta Elementary.
Construction started in May for improvements at the intersection of St. Lucie West and NW Peacock boulevards. The City is adding lanes to St. Lucie West and Peacock boulevards to improve traffic flow and access to I-95. Lane closures are anticipated throughout construction.
Convenient Drop-off Center Changes
Beginning June 30, two changes will take effect at the Convenient Drop-off Center, located at 1501 SW Cameo Blvd.: Yard waste and construction materials will no longer be accepted; residents will be limited to three trips per month. The changes will eliminate commercial waste dropped off by contractors and landscapers at the site. These changes are also necessary to help reduce operational costs while increasing capacity for bulk waste management. For more information, visit cityofpsl. com / solidwaste.
Free Chlorination Program
The Port St. Lucie Utility Systems Department will temporarily modify its water disinfection process between July 8-22. The City performs this process annually to ensure water quality and maintain compliance with Federal and State regulatory agency requirements. Periodic modifications to the water disinfection process are recommended by the American Water Works Association. Any changes in the water color or odor will be temporary and will not cause any adverse health effects. Individuals may still drink the water.
Septic-to-Sewer Grant
The City is committed to doing everything possible to improve the health of its local waterways. One way to do that is through the City’ s septic to sewer conversion program. In March, it completed the 11,000th conversion since the program began. And recently the City received a $ 300,000 grant to convert 69 residential septic systems in central Port St. Lucie near three key waterways to help meet that commitment to enhance water quality.
Heart in the Park
Love was in the air on June 12 in Tradition! More than a dozen couples were married or renewed their vows in front of Mattamy Homes’ Heart in the Park after a ribbon cutting for the world’ s tallest heart sculpture. The official grand opening is scheduled for July 12. This public art project was paid for by Mattamy Homes, not the City of Port St. Lucie.
Water Quality Report
If residents have questions about where the City’ s water comes from, how we protect it and how they can conserve it, all that information can be found in the 2024 Water Quality Report that was recently released. The report includes the results of sampling and testing conducted in 2024 and can be ready by visiting cityofpsl. com / utility.
