Roads and Projects
A temporary traffic signal will be put in place the week of Dec. 22 at the intersection of Community Boulevard and Discovery Way. The temporary traffic signals will be on trailers and in " flash " mode for two weeks before they are fully operational as a standard traffic signal on Jan. 5. The temporary signal will help accelerate installation of a permanent traffic signal, which is expected to be complete by Spring 2026.
Construction began on a 6-foot wide sidewalk along the north side of Lakehurst Drive from Bayshore Boulevard to Ivanhoe Drive – approximately 1 mile. The project includes swale grading, drainage improvements, installation of crosswalks and more. It’ s another project funded by the voter-approved Half-Cent Sales Tax.
Park Upgrades in Progress
Exciting upgrades are underway at O. L. Peacock, Sr. Park. The construction project at 1950 SW Dreyfuss Blvd. began Nov. 12 and is expected to be complete by mid-2026. Improvements will include: a new shaded playground, paved walking trail, covered pavilions and more. The park will be closed during construction. Construction activity could cause temporary inconveniences and the City appreciates the patience and understanding of nearby neighbors. This project is funded in part by a $ 200,000 grant from the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program.
Softball fields at Jessica Clinton Park are closed for renovations to implement drainage improvements that will improve field quality and playability. The project is expected to take a month to complete, making the fields ready for play again in January.
Accomplishments
The City broke ground on Dec. 9 for what will become the largest park in Port St. Lucie. Torino Regional Park will become a 195-acre destination designed to bring people together through sports, nature and community. That includes a forest-themed playground, an interactive water feature, pickleball and basketball courts, walking and biking trails, a future skate park and much more!
Two events at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center brought in big crowds recently. On Nov. 22, the third-annual PSL International Fest brought the world to Port St. Lucie with music, food, dancing, sports and cultural artifacts from across the globe ready for participants to experience. This year’ s event was funded with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Then on Dec. 6, the City’ s signature Festival of Lights and holiday tree-lighting ceremony kick-started the holiday spirit. The two events drew thousands of residents and visitors to the Event Center for fun, festivities and togetherness.
Five members of the City’ s Youth Council traveled to Deland in November for the Florida League of Cities’ annual Youth Summit. They connected with youth council members from 12 different Florida cities to learn about leadership, advocacy and leading by example.
Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful increased its efforts this year to host more cleanups throughout the City and it’ s new Pop-Up Cleanup initiative was a huge success. KPSLB hosted four cleanups in 2025 with 148 volunteers, who collected 356.5 pounds of litter. The next Pop-Up Cleanup is Jan. 24 at Rotary Park.
