the staggering high price of such a monitor, one would not expect Galax’s to go out and purchase one, yet that’s exactly what happened and it was delivered on the same day to the lab. It’s in the little things where we see what the OC Lab is about, as no stone goes unturned in the pursuit of excellence. Galax’s messaging is clearly composed of actions (events, competitions etc.) and products - less so by words. It is no surprise then that this wordless massage of cutting-edge hardware (especially graphics cards) for overclockers and performance enthusiasts has instilled itself into many the world over The 5th Anniversary gathering is in many ways akin to visiting old friends and just committing yourselves to the one thing that you have in common. Instead of just talking about it though, you get right down into the trenches and go at it every day, virtually all day. So conducive to overclocking is the Lab that even I as a reporting spectator was compelled to overclock the then new Intel Core i7 9700K with and a set of pre-binned HOF DDR4 memory. Of the many gatherings attended, few have this razor focused commitment to pure overclocking, all the while carrying a casual approach to it. This makes for the most comfortable, but enabling environments within which one can overclock and try new things. Knowing that expert technical advice is at hand when you need it. As a single event within the overclocking landscape it is arguably the best. Virtually everything worked like clockwork and the understanding that GALAX has for overclockers and their concerns is second to none (e.g. understanding that the day of arrival isn’t a day to do anything, but rest). Different to any overclocking event, the 5th Anniversary celebration added a new dimension to GALAX as a whole and of course the people working within. Be it coincidental or otherwise, there’s a sense of drive and motivation with which things are done. Even as I caught a glimpse of the then unannounced RTX 2080 HOF, it was made clear that this graphics card still needed some maturation in order for it to meet the exceptionally high standard set by the TI OC Lab edition. Reassuring to know that right across the product range, If, it says HOF on it, it’s earned it. In all the years TheOverlcocker Magazine has published, it’s safe to say that no other event has been this focused and illuminating. The 5th Anniversary OC Lab celebration was a celebration of not only GALAX’s history and contribution to the world of overclocking, but also a shared passion for performance and pushing the limits of what is possible with PC hardware.
