GAMING GEAR AWARD S CORSAIR K70 RGB MK.2 PRICE: $149 - $169 (Depending on Switch Type) | WEBPAGE: www.corsair.com keyboards) share the multimedia key functions, buttons and scroll wheel. Naturally the one on the K95 is taught, needing a firm push up or down to move. The quality of the wheel seems better than on the Strafe and K70, but that is highly subjective and in reality they just may be identical parts with the Strafe lacking the chrome finish the other two have. In terms of functionality, they are the same and this goes for the multimedia keys as well. They are firm and offer some resistance when you push, so each key press has to be deliberate to register. There’s a little bit of play around the plastic caps, but that’s to be expected. Moving left, you have the usual indicator lights for Num, Caps and Scroll lock. Not much to say about that so we move on the illuminated CORSAIR logo and through to the left where you’ll find the Profile, Brightness and Lock buttons. These work exactly as before and as you’d expect can also be colour customized via iCUE. The rest of the keys are identical save for the absence of dedicated Macro keys on the MK.2 models. That’s not to say all three are the same as they most certainly aren’t. The largest difference between the K95 and these MK.2 models is just how much brighter and subsequently more vibrant the LEDs are. Line up all three next to each other and it looks as if the K95 is literally from a much older generation of LEDs. This is especially noticeable during the day where the K95 LEDs can appear washed out even at maximum brightness. The MK.2 keyboards are head and shoulders above all other offerings from CORSAIR in this regard. I know only of a handful of keyboards which are as bright. Prior to observing the improved LED lighting in person I wasn’t sure what it was exactly that would make any MK.1 (I’m making this up, CORSAIR does not refer to their keyboards in this manner) owner even look at any of these. I saw the lighting in person and I too became a convert. So, if you put together just how similar these MK.2 keyboards are to the K95, they make a compelling case for themselves over and above just being better than Issue 45| 2018 The OverClocker 27
