Benchmarks We ran an array of benchmarks that provided a complete performance analysis of the system that would allow easy comparisons in future reviews. We have completed these benchmarks at 4500MHz on a completely un-optimized Windows7 install. 3DMark 06 2250 CL9 2133 CL9 1866 CL8 1600 CL7 AIDA 64 READ AIDA 64 Write AIDA 64 Copy AIDA 64 Latency 30775 30407 30377 30291 24647 23968 22429 21463 26754 26185 24550 22167 23580 23229 22798 22181 36.3 37.5 38.7 41.1 Summary and reached an impressive 2250 MHz at 9-11-9-24. Interestingly enough this was not possible initially as Massman had a brief stint with them and posted an OC chart at Hwbot. Somehow, though we had the distinct impression motherboard limitations were to blame. We immediately reached better maximum clocks at lower voltages. In earnest, however CL 10-11-10-28 is what will be required for smooth operation at such high speeds. We (Alby in particular) entered the Geil FFA competition with this set. Stage 1 was all about highest memory frequency. Reaching 2536MHz on X58 at 1.77Vdimm was already a treat while 1673MHz CL6-87-18 at 1.8 volts was used for stage 2 of the competition. As I wanted to go higher on the RAM speed for stage 1, the DMMS were re-tested adding two G.Skill Snipers DIMMs. I booted at 2250MHz and ran a fast SuperPi 32M to check stability with the Evo Corsa kit. Looking closer at the CPU-Z screenshot, I discovered the CAS Latency remained at 9. Previously this would have caused an error within a few loops with Superpi 32m. Now however, it completed the test. We can only vouch for this kit, but the extra voltage used has somehow burned in these ICs in a good way. Sadly, this was far the story got, as any higher the memory could not complete a Memtest run without producing errors. With that said, a nice 117MHz above the rated speeds, with just a mediocre voltage increase looks solid to us.? [Alby Gramps] GEIL has delivered a fine performance kit for those that want straight out the box maximum performance with good timings. Snooping around on the internet, this kit retails at a lower price to similar offerings from rival companies. The only potential drawback would be the odd colour scheme of the heat spreader, that however is a matter of personal taste. Not factoring the aesthetics and purely from a performance perspective, these are killer sticks with a fantastic bang for buck ratio. So if you are out looking for a decent 8GB kit, do not overlook this set. Would you buy it? Yes without a doubt especially at this price. The Score 9/10 2011 | Issue 17 The OverClocker 21
