Welcome to Issue 16
Let’s pause the 80s action stars for a bit and for
once actually have an Ed’s note that’s relevant.
Well let’s try anyway. When writing this I always
try and ask myself, “So what’s new in the world
of Overclocking?” well I’d like to say lots but that
wouldn’t be true. Sure enough SB-E looks epic and
AMD’s FX still hasn’t shown up (what’s new?), but
other than that not much to get excited about. No
new GPUs are planned for this year, which I suppose
is good news given just how much we’ve invested
into the 580s.
Talking about the GTX580, it seems
manufactures are finally getting into
the idea of not only marketing graphics
cards to overclockers but actually
making them the way overclockers
need them to be, at least this holds true
for three of the four top cards on the
market. It’s amazing how it only takes
one manufacturer to lead the way then
all of a sudden the reasons that were
there for not making such a product
vanish for everyone. Having said that,
I eagerly anticipate the 580 Classified,
much like many of you do I’m sure.
Anyway, this month’s issue was an
odd one. We basically flew by the seat
of our pants and it’s incredible that we
actually got this out at all. Towards the
Xxxxxxxxxx
end of the year we seem to get a little
lethargic but we keep going. Unlike any
other issue before this note was actually
written first, still have no idea what to
talk about but hey it was a way for me
to actually start working on this issue.
Art director stipulates that I must have
a certain word count here in order for
it to not look pathetic, but I have to keep
typing until I fulfil this quota. Doesn’t
matter what I say really, but it’s good to
have this section because it makes this
look and feel like the beginning of an
actual magazine. So here I am writing
away on a gloomy Monday afternoon
trying my hardest to finish what should
be a thought provoking or at least
insightful piece into what is to come in
this issue.
4 The OverClocker Issue 16 2011
What is worth mentioning is that
we had a “Moomish” moment on the
website, regarding a product that is
covered in this issue. Due to fatigue, lack
of sleep and just not paying attention, we
(or rather I) published results that were
incorrect for a motherboard. We must
once again take this time to apologize
for this. The official and rectified review
is in this issue.
While we are at it, what follows here is
a legal disclaimer. I just thought I’d put
it in here and it covers all the issues we
have done thus far. Any 80s action star,
living or otherwise (yes because other
than being deceased there’s another
state one can be in apparently) featured
in our magazines is featured for comical
reasons only. What we say, suggest
or insinuate in anyway about said
individuals is purely for the purposes
of filling the editor’s note and none of it
is actually true. All it is, is our random
thoughts about 80s action heroes that
we fail to filter properly.
Anyway so what’s in this issue? Well
look across and you’ll see. The low
point of Issue 16 definitely has to be
the Ed’s note, but other than that, this
was probably the most inspired issue
of the entire year and we will definitely
see you guys in October, hopefully with
some MSI MOA coverage. Until then
have fun with this issue and see you
sooner than you think.
