Off Road Adventure, Chester Zoo
This flagship project at Chester Zoo shows how attractions can diversify revenue while enriching guest experience. Born from a conversation at IAAPA Expo Europe, it evolved into a tailored space aligned with the zoo’ s mission for immersive, family-friendly fun and conservation education. Installed in 2019, Crazi-Bugz at Llys-y-frân Lake has delivered safe, low-maintenance family fun as part of Dŵr Cymru’ s investment in outdoor activities. The eight-vehicle setup includes a practice track, tunnel, bridge and rocky elements for a fun, skill-based challenge. Five years on, Aqualand Industries completed a full fleet refurbishment – highlighting the vehicles’ durability and operational efficiency. The zoo recouped vehicle costs through revenue generated within 12 months, proving its commercial viability. Aqualand Industries supported every stage – from track design to a full training program – while custom graphics reflected Chester Zoo’ s rebrand. The result: a high-throughput activity that seamlessly integrates learning, play and operational success.
