The UK itself is also attracting new international interest. Universal’ s proposal for a major new theme park in the South of England has made global headlines and signals significant potential for further inward investment, with planning submitted, it is hoped the park will be operational by 2031. Similarly, the French operator Puy du Fou has submitted a planning application for a £ 600 million historical theme park near Bicester, Oxfordshire. The project, planned to open in phases from 2029, will feature period villages, live shows, themed hotels, restaurants, and a conference centre, creating 2,000 direct jobs and supporting an estimated 6,000 more across the local economy.
