Titanic Belfast – Gallery-Reimagined
Savill Garden
Cap. Co( Creating Adventurous Places) designed and delivered this play attraction within the grounds of Savill Garden, on the outskirts of Windsor, UK. It draws inspiration from the native flora and fauna of the wider Windsor Great Park, making the play area truly“ of its’ place”.
The play area is made up of two distinct elements.
Fabrite, Fabrication by Marcon, AV Systems by DJ Willrich, Lighting by White Light, Media by Shosho and showcases by Frank Showcases.
The major works, however, involved the internal demolition of the main theatre, gallery 9. This included significant general construction works, remodelling the theatre for an auditorium show into a 270˚ immersive theatre. This comprised of 15 projectors, blended into a multi-faceted projection surface supported by theatre lighting and comprehensive audio. The visitors transit from one level to another via a new circular staircase. The central feature, a 7.6m skeletal model of the Titanic, was built by Fiction Factory and their sub-contractors, 181 delivered the internal lighting.
• A Play Garden designed for pre-school children.
• A high-level maze of walkways, decks, tunnels, nets and slides aimed at older children and their families.
PHA worked with Cap. Co as project manager of the attraction from completion of detailed design through to opening.
