Thursford is home to one of Britain’ s most beloved Christmas experiences, but our challenge was creating something with equal magic for the rest of the year. CAP. CO’ s answer was the Adventure Play Fair: a bespoke outdoor play world rooted in the romance of the vintage fairground, designed to complement the site’ s theatrical heritage while standing as a compelling attraction in its own right.
The centrepiece is a giant timber Ferris Wheel housing internal climbing routes and a dramatic drop slide from its uppermost cabin, alongside a classically styled Helter Skelter with its own clamber route and tube slide. Rides and structures connect across multiple levels via walkways, bridges and tunnels, creating constant discovery and challenge. A dodgems-inspired kart track weaves through the site, and a bespoke Playfountain Splash Pad, the first of its kind in a UK park, features 100 programmable water jets choreographed to music.
Every detail, from the vintage colour palette to the themed surfacing strategy and interactive sensory panels, reinforces a coherent world that feels timeless, immersive and unmistakably CAP. CO.
