Essential Feature
Corsica
Corsica is a beautiful island
just over 2 hour flight from
Manchester - a French island
basking in the Italian Sun
writer Balzac once described it.
Coastal towns, quiet villages
and National Park make up
Corsica The National Park is
approximately a third of the
island and boasts the highest
mountains and rivers of all
Mediterranean islands. Spend
time exploring the picturesque marinas
where luxurious yachts moor overnight
- sit and have a cocktail watching the
sunset over the harbour. The island is
an ideal place for walking, cycling, water
sports, canoeing, for more adventurous
why not try Ferratas (iron roads) which
are mountain routes equipped with fixed
cables, ladders, ramps and bridges.
Direct flights from regional airports,
transfers to your accommodation or why
not hire a car and explore the local area.
Flights from Manchester to Calvi on
weekly basis - Calvi has a lovely harbour
side with cafes and restaurants to sit and
watch the world go by! The Citadel looks
across the bay, there are various apartments
where you can spend your holiday or
you may chose to stay at one of the villas/
28
apartment/
hotels throughout Calvi The beach is a
lovely stretch of silver sand with a back
drop of pines and majestic mountains.
The local train will take you up the coast
towards L’lle Rousse travelling through
little seaside villages with sandy beaches.
The best time to visit Corsica is between
June and September where temperatures
vary from 22 degrees to around 30
degrees or higher in July and August.
The cuisine is best described between
French and Italian therefore something
for everyone, sample the local Corsican
wines especially the reds and roses! So
