THE LOWDOWN
There’s a good reason that Turks and Caicos – and most notably
the island of Providenciales – has become one of the most desired
kiteboarding destinations on the planet of late. Cross onshore
winds, almost no crowds, and plenty of square miles of perfect,
shallow, clear waters. Just 1.5 hours from Miami and easily
accessible from all over the US, the TCIs should definitely be
high on your travel bucket list…
KITING SET UP
There are four main go-to spots. Long Bay is the biggy, on the
south side of Providenciales. This beach is made for kiteboarding,
and the main kite schools have all set up here, so it’s ideal for
the learners amongst you. Grace Bay is generally for the more
advanced rider, with deep water launches, strong northerlies, and
there are waves to be had on the reef or the sandbars. Leeward can
be a fickle spot but when it’s on, it’s on! It’s a tidal spot so
